As more couples make a winter vacation an annual tradition, more women are looking for that perfect traveling companion – the lightweight and colorful sarong. Why are sarongs such an important part of any woman’s travel wardrobe? Well, first and foremost, they are less likely to go out of style from one year to the next. Sarongs have been worn by island women (and men, too) for centuries, at least in some form or another; and they are still one of the most functional and flattering garments a person can own.

Ladies, are you planning a winter vacation? Well, unless you caught the end-of-season clearance sales you may have a hard time finding casual vacation clothing. Most of the stores in colder climates have long since put stored their summer merchandise and they’re only showing sweaters and long pants.
If you’re like most people, you want to buy something new for your winter vacation. Guys may be okay with wearing the same old shorts and polo shirts, but ladies enjoy a new colorful outfit for a trip to the islands. You may be wondering, “Can’t I just shop on line for casual vacation clothing?” The answer is yes, you certainly could, but there is one problem with that. Buying fitted clothing online is not an exact science. If the clothing you order doesn’t fit, you could find that you don’t have enough time to reorder it in the right size before you leave town. My advice? If you really want to buy the ideal piece of clothing for your tropical trip, consider a Hawaiian sarong.

Over the past several years, women have become a lot more comfortable with online shopping, but clothing purchases still lag behind other categories because ladies like to try things on before they buy. This may be understandable for buying fitted clothing like jackets and pants, but when you see sarongs for sale online, it shouldn’t be an issue.
Why it makes sense to buy sarongs for sale online
If you have ever tried on a sarong or seen them for sale at an island resort, you know that sarongs are “one size fits all.” They basically come in two sizes – regular and plus size. So if you’re worried about whether it will fit, there’s no need to be concerned.

Even after summer ends, there is no need to stop shopping for swimwear. In fact, it is one of the best times to find women’s sarongs cheap. When you go to the islands, it is usually during cooler weather months when it is hard to find fashionable swimsuits and cover-ups. But if you wait until you get to your destination it will be a lot more expensive. If you really want to find cheap women’s sarongs all year round, then it’s smarter to shop online.

Let’s face it; nearly every American dreams of making a trip to Hawaii someday. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy a long laid-back trip to the garden isle of Kauai, or an action-packed surfing adventure in Maui? Even history buffs are thrilled at the prospect of visiting Pearl Harbor in Oahu. It should come as no surprise then that anything associated with the great state of Hawaii would become a popular trend in Middle America. Sarongs for women are no exception. Just like Hawaiian Shirts, luaus, giant waves, pineapples and coconut, Hawaiian sarongs have inspired the imaginations of people around the world. Read More »

This is the question I was asking a friend of mine when she told me that she just ordered five new sarongs from her favorite online retailer. When we had lunch last week, she was wearing a colorful Hawaiian sarong that was tied in the most creative way. I figured she must have picked it up on one of her many Caribbean cruises, but she said she never gets her sarongs on the islands. Believe it or not, she said she recommended I buy sarongs online to get the best selection and prices.

This may not be the burning question of the 21st century but for” fashionistas” who want to look their best, it’s important to learn about the latest trends. If you search out Hawaiian sarongs on the Internet, it would appear that they are simply a sheet of colorful fabric, embellished with a fringed edge on one side, but when you see models wearing them in magazines, they appear to be wearing a fitted dress. So what makes Hawaiian sarong dresses look so different than self-tied sarong skirts? The answer is simple; they are two different things.

“There is something about sarongs for women,” said a friend of mine last year while sitting on the beach in Maui. His point was well taken, as we both admired the parade of scantily clad women walking in our direction on the beach. But he went on to say what I was already thinking in my head. It wasn’t their swimsuits that made these women so exotically attractive; it was the way their sarongs fell just below the hip line and showed “just enough skin” to make them extraordinarily sexy.

If you’re an avid island hopper who regularly cruises the Caribbean, or you know someone who frequents the islands of Hawaii quite often, you may already be aware of one of the best kept secrets in women’s attire. But if you’ve never owned a beach sarong, then this should be the year you buy one. Beach sarongs have become quite popular, especially in resort areas, as women try to find something new and fashionable to wear over their swimsuit. However as they become more widely known, they are often lacking in quality. If you really want to grab hold of this growing trend and do it in style, be sure you buy a beach sarong from the right place.

If you’re at a loss when it comes to dressing for warm weather; join the club. Unless you were blessed with a perfect body, you may be agonizing over the thought of what to wear in a tropical climate. Even an upcoming pool party may have you worried about how to cover up and look fashionable. Well, there is good news – women’s sarong dresses are back, and they are more attractive than ever before.
If you’ve ever worn a short sarong skirt over a bikini, then you may be wondering how women’ sarong dresses are different. The truth is, sarong dresses are just as versatile as those wraps you remember, and they’re just a little less revealing. Women who like the look of a long wrap skirt can easily convert women’s sarong dresses into a sexy, free flowing skirt. If you prefer to show a little leg, then women’s sarong dresses can be worn as a short dress that is tied around the neck like a halter. They can also be worn as a one shoulder dress or a strapless sheath; it is entirely up to you.

In case you haven’t taken your first trip to the beach this summer, the Hawaiian pareo /sarong is being billed as the “fashion hit” of the 2011 summer swimsuit season. But wait, since when is a Hawaiian sarong considered a swimsuit? Well, apparently women this season are placing a higher priority on buying a Hawaiian pareo or sarong than they are on purchasing new swimwear. Could this be a sign that women are less confident about their bodies this year, or is something else going on?

While you’re out shopping for your summer wardrobe this year, look around. You might be surprised to see some unusual-looking wrap skirts on sale in the swimsuit section. These versatile garments are available almost everywhere now, and they are called pareos, or sarongs. So why do so many stores have pareos for sale? It used to be that you could only find a genuine sarong or pareo in the islands, or possibly online. That’s still true. The pareos for sale online and in the islands are still considered the “genuine article”. Most of those that can be purchased in department stores are knock-offs.

Now, don’t get me wrong; I am well aware of the fact that sarongs are not a “new” trend for American women, but never before have these flattering wraparound cover-ups been seen in so many women’s fashion magazines. Women who enjoy getting dressed up for a night out are often limited by the latest fashions. This may mean she is forced to wear something that doesn’t really suit her figure or flatter her curves. If this sounds like you, then pareos and sarongs may be an ideal alternative. Not only are they more fashionable and unique than almost any other piece of clothing; they are also completely “customizable”. If you don’t like the way the fabric drapes in the front, simply tie it differently. Not in the mood for a halter neckline tonight? No problem – just change it into a strapless sheath.
Whether you feel like wearing a short skirt, a long skirt or something in between, pareos and sarongs are 100% adjustable. They can be a dress, a skirt, a shift, a wrap – even a beach blanket or table cover. The only thing that limits a woman’s ability to wear pareos and sarongs is her imagination. But if you are the kind of person who likes to experiment and “do it yourself”, then there is no better way.

This may seem like a trick question, but the truth is that wearing a Hawaiian sarong dress is so flattering for women that wearing one literally could change your life. Don’t laugh – just think about how much different your life could be if you went out the door wearing a beautiful Hawaiian sarong dress and you ended up meeting the perfect man. Sure, it may have been possible for you to meet him no matter what you were wearing, but there is something so feminine and alluring about wearing a form-fitting wrap dress. Who knows, you could inadvertently strike a chord with any man who sees you in it. The bright colors and bold patterns of the fabric, combined with the way sarongs wrap “strategically” around a woman’s curves, are enough to make older men recall the movie stars from the days of the Hollywood starlet.

Ladies, summer is just around the corner, and no one has to tell you what that means. With all the swimsuits already on display in every department store, it is only a matter of time before that first day at the beach. In addition to that new bikini or maillot, women everywhere will be searching for the perfect beach accessories – the right flip flops, a new beach bag, and something sexy to wear over their swimsuit. While I wouldn’t recommend buying a bikini from an online store, there are several reasons to buy sarongs online.
For an effortless look that is both versatile and chic, nothing beats the Hawaiian sarong. Also known as pareos, sarongs are basically a large piece of cloth with finished or fringed ends, not much different than a toga. You may have seen women wear sarongs on the beach as a long wrap skirt, or you may have seen women wear a dressed-up version of the sarong as a beach wedding dress. No matter how they are worn, sarongs are designed to do one thing very well – flatter a woman’s body! Perhaps this is why they have grown to be so popular all over the world. Women often find them in resort areas or Hawaiian-themed beach shops, but if you want the best selection and the most affordable prices, it makes more sense to buy sarongs online.

I have always been intrigued by Hawaiian sarongs, especially the ones that are made from soft, hand-dyed fabrics depicting colorful tropical flowers. But for awhile there, after my kids were born, I thought I would never wear a sarong again. That’s because all the “one size fits all sarongs” I had were not designed to wrap around my plus size figure. Before realizing this unfortunate fact, I had even picked out a beautiful sarong from a catalog that featured Plumeria blossoms against a navy blue background. Then, when I tried on one of my other sarongs and it didn’t fit, I started wondering why no one made a plus size sarong. After all, if anyone wants to cover up on the beach, isn’t it the plus-sized woman?

When it comes to sexy summer fashions for women, there is nothing like a silk sarong. Silk sarongs are similar to the popular beach sarong in many ways; but because they are made with such a sleek and supple fabric, silk sarongs are naturally suited for dressier occasions. As women have discovered, silk naturally flatters the curves of woman’s body. The fact that it doesn’t bunch up or hug the body too tightly makes a silk sarong it is even more appealing for evening wear.
Because sarongs are tied to match the exact dimensions of the body, there is never an area that is too snug or a spot where the garment doesn’t quite fit. Each time a woman puts on a silk sarong, it is custom-fitted to match her unique curves and measurements. Plus, like any sarong, a silk sarong can be worn in a variety of ways. It can be doubled over and worn as a short or long wrap skirt, tied to resemble a sheath dress, halter dress, toga or strapless dress, and it can even be worn as a shawl on chilly evenings. With a colorful silk sarong, there is no limit to the unique looks that can be created.

As winter winds down and temperatures start to climb, women’s thoughts inevitably turn to their spring and summer wardrobes. An important part of any woman’s summer wardrobe is their swimwear, but it is not always her favorite thing to wear. Women who want to look great on the beach this summer are looking at another piece of clothing that is equally as important. It’s called a sheer sarong and it is quickly becoming the world’s most popular beach accessory.
Let’s face it; once women are past a certain age they start to depend on sneaky ways to make themselves look more attractive in a swimsuit. If walking on the beach without some type of cover-up is no longer appealing, then a sheer sarong may be a great summer wardrobe piece you buy this summer. Sheer sarongs are similar to regular sarongs, in that they are worn as a wrap skirt around the waist. The only difference with the sheer material is that you can a hint of your swimsuit underneath. Matte sheer material doesn’t reflect light, so it gives your body a much smoother and sexier appearance without completely covering up your beautiful swimwear.

Summer is just a few months away, and you may already be dreaming about spending time at your favorite beach resort. Instead of digging out the same beach cover-ups and sundresses, why not make a sarong the main element of your summer wardrobe this year? As someone who knows how to wear a Hawaiian sarong, I get a lot of compliments whenever I wear one. But most women I know have no idea how to wear a sarong.
Depending on the type of sarong your buy, there are several attractive ways to wear a sarong. One of the most popular ways is to wear it as a strapless dress. The strapless dress can be a simple and casual way to cover up on the beach, or it can be dressed up to make an elegant evening dress. Some women buy several different sarongs in a variety of fabrics that can be worn for various occasions.

Does the thought of putting on a bathing suit give you night sweats? Perhaps you’ve already forgotten about that New Year’s Resolution to lose weight, and now you just need to put a two month “hold” on summer. But like it or not, warmer weather is on its way and it’s time to start thinking about swimwear. Maybe this is the year to consider sarong swim wear. Sarong style swimwear takes the most flattering design elements of the sarong and incorporates it into the design of a swimsuit.
Another fashionable way to look great on the beach this year is by wearing a sarong over swimwear. Women who pull this look off best start with a monochromatic maillot and pair it with a coordinating sarong skirt. For women who are self-conscious about their legs or hips, this is a very flattering look. To reverse this effect, consider wearing a sarong swimming suite that pairs a colorful print swimsuit with a sarong that is monochromatic.

If you’ve never heard of a pareo, then chances are you have never been to the Cook Islands or Tahiti. A pareo is just another word for a sarong, or wraparound skirt, but this is the Tahitian word for it. More broadly defined, any piece of cloth that is worn wrapped around the body in Tahiti is known as a pareo, and they are seen on both men and women.
The pareo is a close relative of the sarong, which originated in Malay. In the island of Samoa, it is called a lavalava, and in Tonga it is known as the tupenu. If you want to get technical, the Tahitian word is “pāreu” which is pronounced with the long “a” sound.

This may come as a surprise to the average American male, but the Scots aren’t they only men who wear skirts. Sarongs are commonly worn on both men and women around the world, particularly in tropical areas in and around Southeast Asia. In trendier “haute couture” circles, international fashion designers have attempted a men’s sarong from time to time, but they rarely get past the Paris fashion show runways. However, men will often buy a casual one to wear on an Asian vacation. As a sarong retailer and fashion consultant, I am often asked about how men wear sarongs. Here is what I’ve gathered from talking to fashion insiders.
The brightly colored fabric of women’s sarongs is rarely used in men’s sarongs. While men’s sarongs often include the same patterns and fabrics as women’s, theirs tend to be a little more sedate and earth-toned. Men usually wear a longer sarong than women, even on hot summer days, and they wear it only below the waist.
